We're so Artsy
Bryn loves to color with her crayons, but what she really loves is making things out of her crayons. She organizes them by color or size, and she recruits me to do "crayon projects" with her. I like it, too. It's fascinating to watch Bryn work so intently and meticulously, and it also puts my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree to work. Right? Ha.
This is Bryn's favorite arrangement and everyday I hear "Mom make Crayon Octagon with Bryn!?" I make the shape with the colored pencils and then she and I fill it in with crayons. There's a right and a wrong way to do it, and if I put down the "wrong" crayon she will replace it immediately with the "right" one.
And when we're tired of doing shapes, then I lay out the colored pencils and she matches it with the other crayons of that color. I love silly, little projects like this, and I'm lucky to have a little pal to do them with.

I'm super impressed! She groups the light and dark crayons separately.
I love seeing her so meticulously working. She's good at the colors too, I see.
Um, that's amazing! What a fun project to work on together.
haha! that looks like an artist's mom dream come true! that's awesome :)
wait....laura...i don't think this is your average child's results...i think you definitely have a genius budding artist on your hands (not surprisingly). i mean, seriously? she is so neat & perfect with getting the crayons lined up right! and i can't believe she can notice the slight variation in shades on the second project! she is sooo smart! :)
wow. i bet that keeps her occupied for a while. that's my kind of activity! :) i love playing with stuff like that, and especially laying out diff fabrics together seeing what looks good together. which bryn also does. she is my kinda girl!
I found your blog through a google search and i have to agree with Diana. This isn't an ordinary child. :) This is amazing. She's gifted. Please continue to encourage this with different art activities like painting and sculpture and maybe have art classes with her (if you haven't already) Because of her natural ability with color combinations, she could be the next great artist!
