Road Trip

We're taking off for Utah, for a fun week with family. It will be the first time the three of us have DRIVEN to Utah since we moved to California.
Our last Utah-California drive was an adventure with the three of us in the cab of a U-Haul, our car being towed at the back, no air-conditioning, a close-to-overheating vehicle, and a 6-week-old baby who nursed every three hours.
We're hoping this trip will be a little smoother....but this time we have a busy toddler, so it will probably be right up there with last time. Any great tips for long drives with toddlers?

If she still takes a binky, that's a great tool. We are using one only bed and nap time, but it was very nice to have on the trip...the drive is very long and it helps them cope!

Books, the little toys they can hold right in their car seat, a cookie tray to put on their lap so the crayons won't fall everywhere (unless she throws them!). We downloaded some baby einstein movies and saved them to Kevin's laptop. Then, we got the tape adapter thing that you plug into the earplug thing so that they could hear it over the car speakers.

You might be surprised how well she'll do. However, Alex (toddler) had the harder time than Ethan (3). Good luck! Have a fun trip. It's worth it to be with family.

Bring a portable DVD player or a laptop to play movies. We just made the 17 hour drive to Rexburg and back and it was a life saver!

hope you're having fun! :) btw - your blackout curtain idea is SO cool. i've told like 20 people about it and they're all going to copy you.

Hi Laura. My family decided to drive across the country when my 3 half sisters were toddlers. The DVD player in the car was what saved us. I don't know what we would've done without it!!!! a week in the car with toddlers is a patience tester ;)
