A Few Outings in August

We are still getting to know our new area and trying to find the fun things to do, but we did fit in a few little outings in August. One of the first things we did was check out the New Providence Community Pool with my cousin Cara and a friend from our new ward. The girls had a great time splashing around and it was a much needed break from the unpacking.
Another fun thing we did with my cousin Cara was check out the Liberty Science Center. It was awesome! The science center is in the Liberty State Park, right across the Hudson River from the Statue of Liberty. Bryn was so thrilled to be so close to the Statue of Liberty - she said she didn't realize it was actually existed in real life :) We'll have to take the ferry sometime and see it up close.
Bryn and her darling second cousin Olivia are becoming quite the little playmates.
One of our favorite things close to home is the Nature Center in the Watchung Rservation. It's a free museum just a few minutes from our house and the girls love it.
We've been going on lots of walks lately and trying to find the parks in our neighborhood. Lions Park seems to be the closest one and that's great because it's a fun one!
 Little dare devil
We joined some friends from church for Play Group at this park in Berkley Heights.
The best part of this park was definitely the little splash pad.
And of course, we had to check out the playground at Bryn's new school to make sure it would do :)
This is random, but maybe it's qualifies as an "outing"? We've been going to Ikea almost every Saturday it seems, and they always have some sort of entertainment going on. One time it was a live band and Bryn boogied away. Another time there was this person in a huge, realistic dinosaur costume. So random! Bryn thought it was the coolest thing ever, but Mya totally cried and thought it was real.
Anyway, so far we are finding that New Jersey is an awesome place with lots of fun things to do nearby. We still need to take the train into NYC and have fun there, but we've been too occupied with exploring our own neighborhood!
